Seas Life's Moments

You know your family is shore-some when you’re together but finding the evidence requires vast amounts of seafaring - generally in search of something that doesn’t exist because when you’re together, you’re all living in the moment.

When you’re riding the crest of the wave, it’s impossible to break away. You’re too busy enjoying each other’s company and making real memories. If something happens where you do happen to think, “Wow, that would make an amazing photo,” in the time it takes to think and then act, the moment is lost; if you try to recreate it, to force it back into action all the magic that made it special dissipates.

Of course, you could hire a studio photographer to capture the moments you always miss. Gathering everyone into a studio is artificial and it’s very set up is staged to manufacture smiles and laughter, not the very moments that make your family awesome. You could book an outdoor photoshoot but in reality, it’s the same thing. You gather, are positioned, the photographer extracts a laugh or two…

Great memories are tricky to capture in the moment.

You need the right conditions and the right space to create the real magic - the magic that exists only in that moment.

Imagine your family on the beach.

The beach is the perfect place for you to create your memories and for me to capture them - from the outside.

This is for families who love family time and want to build a collection of little but real moments to keep looking at.

It’s for families who want to see themselves in photographs, who want photos that look like real pictures - you know the ones you take on your phone but can’t print because they’re unclear, or the person behind the camera is missing in them all, or a finger got in the way of the lens?

It’s for families like you.

"I do not know what I may appear to the world; but to myself I seem to have been only like a boy playing on the sea-shore, and diverting myself in now and then finding a smoother pebble or a prettier shell than ordinary, whilst the great ocean of truth lay all undiscovered before me." - Issac Newton

Traditional posed photography may look picture perfect and it may reveal some nuggets of personality and family camaraderie but the act of staging takes away the magic; it prevents the camera from catching the special moments you really want to remember.

When you see your truly precious moments in photographs, they will make you feel proud. Instantly, you’ll be taken back to a day that was wonderful, an experience that you’ll continue to be reminded of as your family grows and shapes and changes.

Don’t feel anxious about booking a photoshoot. What's the worst that can happen?

Your children misbehave? I was a teacher for 15 years. I've been a wedding photographer for 6. I've seen obscene  behaviours from children, teenagers and adults.

But, sometimes those moments make for the most interesting photographs. One of my favourite pictures of me is from a holiday in Florida. I was 10, crying and properly peeved because I was being forced to go to Busch Gardens instead of spending the day at school with a half cousin. I love it because it captures a character trait I still have but never admit to - utter petulance when I don't get my own way.

Embrace discovering what the camera can uncover about your family when you throw caution to the sand and the sea.

Often, the best moments are the ones that take us by surprise. Usually, the best photographs are the ones that happen by chance because the right person was there to capture the right moment at the right time.

Hello! I’m Victoria.

I’m the most awkward photographer in the world - put me in a line, tell me to smile and suddenly I’ll stiffen, grimace and become a shell of myself.

I hate doing the same to other people, so I’m on a mission to encourage families to make happiness while I join them to capture their experiences and emotions and turn them into memories to treasure forever.

Seas Life’s Moments gives you the perfect opportunity to spend some real time with your family on the beach as I take photographs of you making memories together.

And here's how we do it:

Life’s a beach. Find your wave

Before I turn up at the beach, I want to know what makes your family special.

We’ll arrange a 15 minute telephone chat or a Zoom call so that you can tell me all about your family’s quirks.

What do they do or say that makes your heart melt? That drives you mad? What are all the things about them that you couldn’t live without? What do they love doing and how? What's your family's story?

  • How long will my session last?
It's important to have headshots wihich are amazing, so I don't set a time limit* for sessions. My average studio shoot is between 60 and 90 minutes but I have done sessions in less than 45 minutes and the client got exactly what they were after. I encourage checking the images as we go, so we'll both know we've got what you want and need. *I wouldn't expect a shoot to last more than 4 hours - if you're looking for something of this length or more, please get in touch and we can discuss it in more detail!
  • What do I need to bring?
You get as many costume and background changes as you liike when booking with me, so bring a variety of clothing with different necklines, and in different colours and textures. You may want to bring a hairbrush, straighteners and other accessories if you think you'll want to re-style your hair. You can also bring make-up, again, in case you want to alter your look (I wouldn't recommend a full glamour look though - you still want to look like you!)
  • Can we shoot outdoors?
Yes! My location is great for outdoor shoots - i'm less than 10 minutes from Kelvingrove Park, the Clydeside and I'm in the quirky, colourful Hidden Lane.
  • What if I'm not happy with my final headhsots?
While this is unlikely, it is possible. If you're unahppy for any reason, get in touch with me. If you don't like the editing I've done, I'll redo this until you're happy. If there is something you don't like with the photographs themselves, we can have a chat and see what is most appropriate way forward. I wouldn't expect to have to reshoot them for you - as we'll have chatted about them and you'll have seen them as we've worked - but there may be cases where this is best.
  • How do I get my images?
I sort through the photographs from our shoot and put the best ones into an online gallery. From these you get to choose your favourite 2, 5 or 10 images (depending on the package you've bought). I'll then edit and re-touch your chosen photographs and email them straight to you!
  • I love more images than my package includes, can I buy more?"
Yes, of course! Additional photographs are £20 each. You'll recieve a full size digital image you can print and a smaller file for web use.
